Note
This letter is NOT from Dr Charles Burney (1726-1814), the musicologist who \nappears in Barry's 'The Triumph of the Thames,' but from his son, Dr Charles Burney (1756-1817), the classical scholar and schoolmaster who \nkept a school at Greenwich. \n\nThis document is misplaced in Hemlow's Catalogue under '14 May1806' (p. 269), but a glance at CBJr's date in the MS reveals to me how this mistake came about. This letter clearly belongs in topic closely with AD.MA/100/10/482, and the \ncorrect date (14 May 1800), despite CBJr's own hurried writing, is confirmed by the docket (by Secretary of RSA Charles Taylor) on the \nverso which clearly reads 'May 14th -- 1800'. Problem solved.\n\n(information from Revd Prof Alvaro F V Ribeiro, SJ\nDepartment of English\nGeorgetown University\nWashington DC on 03/08/07).
