      Note

Rapid increase in the Society's activities rendered it necessary for Council to change the mode of publishing the Society's weekly proceedings to make them a more satisfactory means of communicating the proceedings of the Committees to members and the public. The new publication was to be a regular systematic Journal of the various undertakings which the Society actively carries on.\n\nThe Journal has had several changes of name: between 1852- \n1870 is was the 'Journal of the Society of Arts and the Institutes in Union'; between 1870-1874 the 'Journal of the Society of Arts, the Institutes in Union and Official Record of Annual International Exhibitions'; between 1874-1907 the 'Journal of the Society of Arts'; between 1907-1987 the 'Journal of the Royal Society of Arts' and between 1987 to present day 'RSA Journal'.
