      Note

Premium Committees were established to judge submissions in the various areas of the Society's awards scheme. These were initially the Committees of Chemistry, Colonies and Trade, Manufactures, Mechanics and Polite Arts. Later Agriculture was added. There were additionally various ad-hoc committees which met to discuss specific matters.\nThe Society's Secretary, Samuel More, compiled notes on the main deliberations of various committees into a five volume 'Manuscript Discourses' (PR.GE/112/10/2).\nAfter 1784, the Society began to publish annual printed 'Transactions'. \nBefore publication of the Transactions, the Society's main work, particularly the proceedings of the Agriculture Committee, were published in Robert Dossie's 'Memoirs of Agriculture, and other oeconomical arts [3 volumes] (SC/EL/1/204) and the 'Museum Rusticum et Commerciale: or, Select Papers on agriculture, commerce, arts, and manufactures, etc. [6 volumes]' (SC/EL/1/203).
