General history of the work of the RSA on the environment. 'The RSA and the Environment', produced in 1993, commemorated the keen interest that HRH The Duke of Edinburgh has taken in environmental issues during his time as President. His many achievements included initiating a new collaborative approach to the 'Countryside in 1970' conferences, which took place in the 1960s. He also served as President of its Committee for the Environment, established in 1971

Conference held 28-29 November 1984 at The Shap Wells Hotel, Cumbria
The aim of the conference was to provide an opportunity for consideration of how patterns of work are likely to change over the next two or three decades and what consequences may be for the environment.
