These files containing administrative correspondence, press releases and notes on the history of Trafalgar Square. They reveal how the Fourth Plinth project developed and how its administration was organised. Three files consist of correspondence from the public stating their views on the most suitable statue.

Martin Richman and Paul Shepheard collaborated with landscape architects Gross. Max on the art and landscape scheme for Mabley Green recreation ground and Red Path cycle and foot path in East London. The design team explored new uses for the sites, consulting closely with the local community. Due to lack of funds, the project design was revised and the new scheme was completed in 2004. Client: London Borough of Hackney. Award value £6,000.

Each pack contains a list of delegates attending the one day Opening Minds Conference held at the RSA, eighteen images from the Archive and teachers notes providing examples on how the image could be used to build lessons around.

Includes the symposium proposal document, proposal for a publication by Deborah Jaffe, a programme with notes, invitation letter, a guest list, information on speakers and administrative papers. The file also includes copies of the following papers: Dr David G C Allen 'A duty and a Pleasure: Prince Albert and the Society of Arts'; Dr Ted Allan 'From Crystal Palace to the Greenwich Dome - 150 years of Progress'; Dr Ingeborg Cleve 'Meeting Progress: the modernising role of exhibitions and museums for the Kingdom of Wurttemberg.'\n\nAdditionally, the symposium was recorded and nine cassettes document the event.

This book was sent to the RSA by Jac Chambliss, John's nephew.

The Fourth Plinth project was initiated by RSA past Chairman Prue Leith. The RSA's central aims in this initiative were to: use the plinth to display works of art after the 150 year deadlock; raise the level of debate about the nature of public art today; and inform decisions about the plinth's permanent use. The project was co-ordinated by the RSA.\n\nAll files were appraised and routine correspondence removed.\n\nThe series consists of the administrative records from the initiation of discussions about the empty plinth to the the display of the scupltures: Ecce Homo by Mark Wallinger, Regardless of History by Bill Woodrow and Monument by Rachel Whiteread.

Tania Kovats and Alex Hartley collaborated with architect Simon Allford of Allford Hall Monaghan Morris on the design of this new sustainable primary school on a greenfield site in Essex. The project was the result of an international competition sponsored by the local authority in collaboration with the Design Council and served as a model for future development. The project was completed in 1999. Client: Essex County Council. Award value £10,000.

Sokari Douglas Camp collaborated with Sunand Prasad of Penoyre and Prasad Architects on the design of this multicultural arts centre for Wales. Douglas Camp also helped to raise the profile of public art among local artists. The project was completed in 2001. Client: Cardiff and District Multicultural Arts Development Ltd. Award value £3,600.

Kathrin Böhm and Stefan Saffer worked with architect Andreas Lang on the design of a 'mobile porch' - a free, flexible space for public interaction, which roamed underneath London's Westway flyover during November and December 2000. A mini architecture in itself, Mobile Porch creates a space for contemporary art practice, which creates a link between public space and its users. The project was completed in 2001. Client: North Kensington Amenity Trust. Award value £5,000.

Esther Rollinson collaborated with Liz Freemont of Freemont Landscape Architects on a street scene in Redhill. Rollinson and Freemont worked to edit, reveal and re-invent the spatial opportunities and links for the town centre, creating an identity and visual connections for people moving through the city. The project was completed in 2001. Client: Redhill Town Centre Steering Group. Award value £4,000.
