Following a successful conference, co-hosted by the RSA, London First, CBI London Region and London Chamber of Commerce & Industry and organised in conjunction with Peyser Associates, \na series of debates were organised to consider the role of an elected mayor in tackling such challenges as competitiveness and urban regeneration, land-use, economic development, transport, tourism and inter-governmental relations. The first conference took place on 4th March 1999.\n
