Note
The series of Guard Books comprises correspondence to the Society. Letters relate mainly to submissions for award and also include general administrative correspondence. They originally comprised 14 volumes originally numbered 1 to 12 and A and B and were indexed (see PR.GE/110/33-35). The books were conserved as part of the Archive Project and have been rebound. \nIt is not clear why some items were bound into Guard Books and others remained with the 'Loose Archives'. Many of the letters were presented to the various premium committees and a small number include certificates of evidence and plans, drawings and samples.
