From an engraving in Charles Knight's London, Vol. 5, 1843, p.357\nThe Library was originally planned by the Adam brothers as the Society's 'Repository' or 'Model Room' where mechanical inventions and agricultural machinery for which prizes had been awarded by the Society were permanently displayed in the 18th century. Now the Benjamin Franklin Room
The Adam pillars were removed and the showcases introduced in 1863-5. The ceiling was decorated by Crace and Co. Had previously been the repository or model room. Has been the Benjamin Franklin Room since 1967
