File on the Atlantic Canada Medal
A Royal Society of Arts Medal to be awarded to a person who has contributed significantly to the Atlantic Provinces of Canada.
The first year of the medal's being awarded, to someone wo has contributed significantly to the environmental welfare of the whole Atlantic region.
Sponsors are asked to submit names of suitable persons to the Medal Awards Committee or to any Atlantic Fellow of the RSA for forwarding to the Medal Awards Committee. Nominations were accompanied by a standard and up-to-date curriculum Vitae (or equivalent) and a covering letter from the sponsor outlining those things which make the nominee worthy of consideration for this medal. Sponsors were also asked to submit names of three other persons who would be willing to attest to the nominee's suitability.
Recipients of the medal were Joseph Sherman, Walter J Learning and James Rhodenizer

Minutes document the award as 'Qc for an original painting in oil of dead game by a lady of 25, medal is a bounty.'
Mrs Stannard (née Emily Coppin, also awarded under her maiden name - see item 961 in same series) is listed in Redgrave's Dictionary as wife of Joseph Stannard, landscape and marine painter of Norwich, 1797-1830. Other members of the Stannard family designed for the Lowestoft pottery works. Mrs Stannard died in Norwich, aged 82 in January 1885.

The RSA aimed to raise over £500,000 to repair, restore and redecorate the Adam ceilings and decorative schemes of two room within the House.
The RSA offered Fellows to option of "adopting" one of the 40 miniature lions which adore the Adam frieze in the Research room. For donations of £1000 and above you can name your lion for the duration of three years. The donations were put toward the cost of carefully cleaning the plasterwork, and reinstating the original paint scheme.
