In 1973 the Burton Group introduced a series of awards which were designed to examine and improve the effectiveness of the designer's role in industry. Tim Etchells of Forced Entertainment and Andrew Shoben of Greyworld worked with architect Irena Bauman on a project which has transformed a series of bus stops on Manchester Road in Bradford into places of intrigue and 'desire'. Forced Entertainment and Greyworld are artists' groups which specialise in bringing vivid experiences to tricky urban spaces. The bus stops enhanced key city access routes and became a focus for public interaction. The project was completed in 2002. Client: Bradford Metropolitan District Council. Award value £10,000.
