The faculty's objectives were laid out as the further development of design, the consideration of matters affecting the profession and to maintain and uphold the status of the distinction of RDI and of the Faculty.\n\nThese Minutes date from 9 November 1938 to 11 April 1945.\n

The Environment Committee was formed in 1971 and had its first meeting on 20 January 1972. The committee's remit was to review major issues, trends and developments affecting the environment in Great Britain and abroad and provide a pool of relevant information; co-operate with studies and proposals made by other bodies; and arrange conferences and lectures. The Committee met three times a year.
