Administrative correspondence, including a Memorandum and Articles of Association relating to the Association of Societies of Art and Design Limited was established to promote the education of the community by encouraging the understanding, appreciation and development of the arts and design in whatever media expressed. The Association was formed by the five societies representing the related professions of artist and designer namely the Institute of Contemporary Arts, the Society of Industrial Artists and Designers, the Design and Industries Association, the Institute of Landscape Architects, and the Design and Art Directors Association in 1966. The Association was liquidated in 1970.
RSA organised and held a meeting 12 February 1982 to discuss the proposed British Art Medal Society, an extension of the medal design bursaries competition, which aimed to improve the standards of design of medals, particularly cast medals. \n\nCorrespondence from those approached to take part in the discussion giving their comments on the structure and nature of the new Society. \n
The Design section's governing body, the Design Advisory Group (previously the Design Committee, the Design Board and initially the Design Bursaries Board) acts as an advisor to the RSA's Programme Committee, is a source of ideas for RSA future programme, reviews current design projects and evaluates the quality of the RSA Programme work in design.\nRecords comprise administrative correspondence and files

Minutes, agendas and working papers. 25 March 1986 - 7 December 1988.\n\nThe name change from the Design Bursaries Board to the Design Board, suggested by the Futures Working Party, acknowlegded the broadening of the Board's work. Membership of the Board represents all activities of the Design Section and includes representatives from the Futures Working Party, Young Designers for Industry Working Party, Medic Design Award, Design Council, Society of Industrial Artists and Designers, Faculty of Royal Designers for Industry, and Design Education. The existing Futures Working Party assumed the function of an executive committee in relation to the Design Bursaries Competition dealing with all relevant detailed matters. Each group with a responsibility for a particular aspect of the Design section's work would in the future report back to the Design Board once a year.

In 1992 the RSA North West Region established The Howorth Medal for Enterprise and Innovation in recognition of Dr High Worth's outstanding contributions to life and industry.
Initially, the medal was awarded for a distinguished contribution to industrial or technological achievement. More recently the score of the award was broadened to cover many fields of human endeavour by those whose professional career has been general concentrated in the area.
