Won the 'Denby Tableware Attachment Award' worth £1500 under the 'Co-ordinated Ranges' brief in the 'Ceramics' section. Worked with Denby from 19 June - 13 July and 7 August - 8 September.
Bench presented to the RSA by HRH The Duke of Edinburgh on 7/11/1957. The bench is in figured Brazilian rosewood with inset ends of mahogany boarding. While on his trip in the Antarctic, the Duke sent to the Society his detailed ideas as to what should constitute an ideal lecture bench and these have been faithfully executed by the designer, Professor R D Russell, RDI. Won the Smallpiece Trust Travel Award worth £1000 in the 'Engineering Design' section. Travelled to Thailand and Australia from 31 August 2000 - 4 August 2001.
