Andy Hazell and Lucy Casson collaborated with Sustrans on the design of lighting for Foss Island Linear Nature Park, a 4.7km traffic-free path through the city of York. Foss Island is a former railway route made good for walkers and cyclists. This project provided an opportunity for Hazell and Casson to produce sculptured lighting in sympathy with the local surroundings and to provide a safe environment after dark. Client: Sustrans Railway Path and Cycle Route Construction Charity. Award value £4,000.

Wendy Ramshaw worked with architect Richard MacCormac of MacCormac Jamieson Prichard to design a metal gate to be sited in an existing medieval wall at St John's College. To achieve the large scale, Ramshaw worked with the Richard Quinnell Rowhurst Forge. The gate has created a special meeting place and a significant point of transition between the ordered symmetry of the new Canterbury Quadrangle and the romantic chaos of the Fellows' garden. Christopher Tipping worked with East Yorkshire Borough Council's Architects Department on designs for Bridlington North Shore Promenade in Beaconsfield. This improvement programme includes the detail and design of surface finishes, relating the wallscape forms to the floorscape. The designs take into account the environmental, historical and cultural context of Bridlington and the bay and the patterns of use of this public space. Client: East Yorkshire Borough Council. Nina Edge and Jeremy Waygood were appointed to produce designs for this new school in Cardiff by holding participatory workshops with the children, staff and other members of the school community. Edge and Waygood collaborated with South Glamorgan County Council's architects on the treatment of perimeters, entrances, elevations and planting. The school project was completed in 1995. Although designs were completed and fees paid, the artist's ideas were not incorporated into the building. Client: Mount Stuart Primary School. Award value £4,000.

Danny Lane worked in collaboration with Middlesbrough Borough Council Architects Department to devise a sculptural work which was incorporated into the central public space within this new complex in Cleveland. Lane created a functional screen and noise barrier which allows light to pass through, in keeping with the overall style, fabric, location and aspect of the building. Marcela Livingston and Andy Plant worked with Knowsley Metropolitan Borough Council's Department of Planning and Development to identify opportunities for the introduction of art into the town centre improvement scheme. Livingston and Plant worked on designs for a Pavilion, the Kirkby Clock and public seating, consulting with the residents of Kirkby. The project was completed in 1994. Adrian Moakes collaborated with architects J & J Bolchover to identify and produce designs for ways in which artwork might have significant influence on the overall design of this new hospice, its interior and grounds. Simon Gray worked with sculptor Lou Hamilton, landscape architect Mike Jones, and architect Brian Hendry on the redevelopment of an area of the drama department at this school in Bristol. In collaboration with staff and students at the school, Gray designed a flexible multi-use space and an outside performance space as an extension of the drama area. The project was completed in 1995. Robert Organ and Chinks Vere Grylls collaborated with MRM Health Architects to identify a scheme for the incorporation of artwork within the new buildng at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital in Wonford. Organ and Grylls worked with an interior designer, hospital representatives and an arts coordinator to improve the overall environment, encourage a high standard of design and promote a deeper understanding of the interface between high technology and the human element. A period of consultation with patients and staff took place. Designs and part of the project work were completed in 1994 and further funds were being sought to fully realise the artists' proposals. Client: Royal Devon and Exeter Healthcare NHS Trust. Award value £4,000.

Peter Fink collaborated with landscape architects LDC Ltd on the Dundee Wharf walkway in the Isle of Dogs, London. The walkway is the first of several bridges commissioned by the London Docklands Development Corporation (LDDC) for the Docklands area and extends the pedestrian and cycle routes from the City and Limehouse basin. Fink worked with the design team on the detailed design solutions of the walkway, with a particular emphasis on lighting. Completed in 1994. Client: LDDC. Award value £4,000.

Richard Harris worked in collaboration with Percy Thomas Partnership on the design of three internal courtyards in this new NHS Trust hospital in Dorchester. Harris worked with 4D Landscape Design to integrate his proposal with the overall construction and design of the superstructure, creating a real sense of space and place in these key circulation areas. Gordon Young led a team of fellow artists to work with planners, landscape architects and engineers on the creation of a new sea front and centre in Morcambe. Using the unique natural environment of Morcambe Bay as inspiration, the artists produced sketchbooks of ideas, many of which were implemented on the project, eg street furniture, hard landsacping, pavement games and other features for the public spaces. The project was completed in 1995. Client: Lancaster City Council. Award value £12,000.
