The RSA conducted a competition for the design of a painted wall panel to be executed for the main Entrance Hall of the Office Block in the National Cash Register Company's new building in Kingsway West, Dundee, Scotland. The subject of the panel being a Scottish Scene.\n\nAmong the administrative correspondence are details of the competition, plans of the building, the assessors report and names of the winners.

Premiums for design for a drinking fountain offered by the Metropolitan Drinking Fountain and Cattle Trough Association. The RSA assisted in the organisation of the competition. The object was to procure a design which was both attractive and practical. The competitors were asked to keep in mind certain considerations: the fountain was likely to be erected, free standing in a public park, open space or playground and should be capable of being carried out in natural stone but metal might be introduced in a suitable manner. The closing date of the competition was 31 July 1946 by which time 192 designs were received from 165 competitors. The assessors were Mr Oswarld P. Milne, Chairman of the RSA, Mr Keith Murray, Master of the Faculty of Royal Designers for Industry and Surgeon Vice-Admiral Sir Reginald Bond, Metropolitan Drinking Fountain and Cattle Trough Association.\n\nThe file includes administrative correspondence, a pamphlet detailing the terms and conditions of the competition, and the assessors report.\n\n

On a team with Alexander Baalham and Alexander Johnston. Won The Rolls Royce Plc Travel Award worth £1000 in the 'Engineering' section. Travelled to Canada from 20 October 1998 - 10 January 1999.

Won the Walter Wheeler Award worth £1500. Spent two months working with Pitney Bowes Ltd in their Corporate Industrial Design Department in Connecticut followed by one month travel in America. Photocopy of original report.

Won the AA Publishing Attachment Award worth £600 under the the 'Channel Crossing' brief in the 'Communication and Information Technology' section.Worked for ten weeks with Dartington Crystal. Worked for four weeks with the AA (The Automobile Association Limited).

Won The Stoddard Sekers Interational Attachment Award worth £1400, The Sir Frank Warner Memorial Medal and The Sir Ernest Goodale Memorial Award in the 'Furnishing Textiles' section. Worked with Stoddard Sekers International Plc. Photocopy of original report.

Won The John Lewis Attachment Award of £2400 and a John Lewis Travel Award of £1200 in the 'Packaging' section. Worked with John Lewis from 19 July - 15 October 2002 and travelled to New York from 15-19 February 2003. Includes note to the RSA.

Won a Travel Award worth £500 under the 'Concern with the Environment' in the 'Jewellery' section. Travelled to the US.

Won the Unilever Attachment Award of £2500 under the 'A Smile' brief in the 'Packaging' section. Worked at Port Sunlight for four weeks and with Design Bridge for ten weeks.
