Chris Ofili worked with David Adjaye / Associates on the refurbishment and development of the foyer area of Folkestone Library, Museum and Sassoon Gallery. Ofili's work is integrated within the fabric of the building, creating a welcoming space which brings together the different services, giving cohesion to the building and achieving a renewed focus on its cultural activities. The project was completed in 2002. Client: Kent County Council. Award value £5,000.

Andy Hazell and Lucy Casson collaborated with Sustrans on the design of lighting for Foss Island Linear Nature Park, a 4.7km traffic-free path through the city of York. Foss Island is a former railway route made good for walkers and cyclists. This project provided an opportunity for Hazell and Casson to produce sculptured lighting in sympathy with the local surroundings and to provide a safe environment after dark. Client: Sustrans Railway Path and Cycle Route Construction Charity. Award value £4,000.

The first file, dated 1995, contains correspondence and papers relating to the development of the project and its funding. It includes an 'Outline description of the Project', Proposals I and II, a summary of suggestions made by the public with reasons for their acceptance or rejection and a procedural guide to erecting a statue in Westminster. There are also Progress Reports on the Statue dated 25 August and 13 September 1995.\n\nThe second file, dated 1995-2000, contains correspondence relating to a variety of issues concern the administration of the project.

Correspondence in the form of letters, faxes, postcards and emails from the public with suggestions for a statue for the Fourth Plinth and comments on the statues which were finally chosen. Many of the suggestions were generated from a competition held by Outlook BBC World Service. Included is photocopied pages of comments from the Canadian High Commission, and the entries of a class of 12th Form students at the Extended School in Schwedt. There is a brief summary of the suggestions.
